Malte Lieckfeld is a partner at HARTE-BAVENDAMM. He advises on all legal aspects of intellectual property law. He specialises in design law, trademark law and unfair competition law.

He regularly represents national and international companies in extrajudicial and judicial disputes before the German courts as well as in registration, opposition and cancellation proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the EUIPO. He also has extensive experience in the negotiation of delimitation and licence agreements. He also advises and supports his clients on strategic issues relating to the development, expansion and management of their design and trade mark portfolios. His clients include international and medium-sized companies from the auto-motive, logistics, furniture, fashion and clothing, luxury goods and consumer goods industries.

Malte studied law at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Mün-ster. During his studies, he also completed a supplementary course in common law and obtained his Master's degree (LL.M.) in commercial law at the University of the West of England, Bristol, specialising in intellectual property law.

After his first state examination, Malte completed his doctorate at the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law, Prof Dr Thomas Hoeren, Münster, on copyright issues in connec-tion with digital libraries in German and American law. He then completed his legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court and was admitted to the bar in 2013. Before joining HARTE-BAVENDAMM, he initially worked for a prestigious Hamburg law firm in the field of intellectual property law.

Malte is a Certified Specialist for Intellectual Property Law.
